TweakDUN
Was a free program that lets you fine tune the way TCP/IP works, e.g. the MTU packet size. It also provides a convenient editor for the hosts. file which maps DNS names to IP numbers. On Windows 98, this file is stored in C:\Windows\hosts. For NT and Windows 2000 the file is stored in C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. TweakDUN will automatically find it for you, and automatically update entries. You put entries in the hosts. file either because they are not real DNS names, (e.g. 127.0.0.1 localhost ), or because you use them so often you want fast lookup, e.g. google.com or mindprod.com.

Unfortunately TweakDUN has serious bugs ( If ever it fails to find a name on lookup, all subsequent lookups of good names fail as well, and it does not work on Vista) and the author seems to have lost all interest in supporting the product, and now the website itself has gone south.
