euro euro
In Java source code, the euro currency symbol, the one that looks like a rounded E, is written as "\u20AC", (char)0x20ac or (char)8364.

The euro has recently been given the html code ( €).

If you can guarantee the reader is using the Latin-1 encoded character set, you can get the euro in HTML ( €).

Fifteen countries both use and mint Euro currency: Austria (at), Belgium (be), Cyprus (cy), Finland (fi), France (fr), Germany (de), Greece (gr), Ireland (ie), Italy (it), Luxembourg (lu), Malta (mt), Netherlands (nl), Portugal (pt), Slovenia (si), Spain (es). Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain.

The new members that joined on 2004-05-01 : Poland (pl), Hungary (hu), the Czech republic (cz), Slovakia (sk), Latvia (lv), Lithuania (lt) and Estonia (ee) do not yet use the euro, but are committed to do so in the future.

Note that the following countries do not use the euro: Denmark (dk), Great Britain (uk), Norway (no), Sweden(se), Switzerland (ch). They are all members of the EU however. In Britain, most stores take either pounds or Euros. I presume euros would also be accepted in tourist areas of the other EU countries as well.

Use this Applet to view the value of one euro in your native currency:
