tag RAM: Note two words tag RAM, not tagram. A component of the L2 on-chip CPU cache. It tracks which items in regular memory are stored in the cache. It is not the data, but a list of the data. It is different from conventional memory in that is it is addressed associatively. You can ask it, are you holding a copy of location 0x00e8cfa00? and it can tell you instantly without needing to index into a giant bit table to keep track.
